Creative ways of assessing language (Leo Selivan)

Unlocking creativity. Activating students reserved capacities (Yuliana Chernikova)

Students usually find writing boring and most of them are unwilling to write. In this session we will have a look at how to get them interested in writing and how to make our writing lessons more creative. In other words, we will discuss how to change our writing lessons from a chore to some engaging activities and make students aware that writing can be fun.

The power of academic skills (Anna Kashcheeva)
University students need to master academic vocabulary and integrated skills or, in other words, develop abilities in reading, writing, listening and speaking in an academic context. In spite of the fact that such students may be doing a variety of courses, all of them hope to get some tips on how to cope with the workload and prepare for a course delivered in English. In this session I will share my experience of working with higher-level university students and focus on ways of selecting authentic materials, personalising topics and giving essential language input for

Experiential text-driven approach to using texts (Olga Connolly)
It is not news that literary and other types of text are often used in class. They are normally exploited in a formal way, through a set of exercises for comprehension or language practice. In this session, however, we will explore the most authentic ways of using texts. This approach elaborated by Brian Tomlinson is described as multi-dimensional because it aims to achieve the full cognitive, emotional and linguistic impact on students. In other words, it teaches how to “experience” the text.
