OUR SPEAKERS
Penny Ur
Penny was educated at the universities of Oxford (MA), Cambridge (PGCE) and Reading (MA). She emigrated to Israel in 1967, where she still lives today. Penny has thirty years’ experience as an English teacher in elementary, middle and high schools in Israel. Now retired, she has taught M.A. courses at Oranim Academic College of Education and Haifa University.
Penny has presented papers at TESOL, IATEFL and various other English teachers’ conferences worldwide. She has published a number of articles, and was for ten years the editor of the Cambridge Handbooks for Language Teachers series. She was awarded an OBE for services to English Language Teaching in 2013.
Her books include Five Minute Activities (co authored with Andrew Wright) (1992), Grammar Practice Activities (2nd Edition) (2009), A Course in English Language Teaching (2012), Discussions and More (2014) and Penny Ur’s 100 Teaching Tips (2016), all published by Cambridge University Press.
Olga Connolly
Lead of Methodologists at English for Yandex.Practicum
CELTA and DELTA trainer, MA in TESOL and Applied Linguistics (UK)
Olga has been involved in teacher training for more than 15 years, and she has worked as a Director of Studies at a big language school in Moscow. She is a trainer for Cambridge CELTA and DELTA courses with international experience. Since 2020 she has been working as a syllabus developer, materials designer and editor. She continues running teacher training and teacher development courses and providing methodology consultancy.
Alena Kikhay
is a teacherpreneur, a founder of Kikhay online English school, teacher trainer. Has TKT certificates. She is a NATE member with a Badge of Gratitude. Main area of interests is teaching online. The owner and the author of VK community “Give&Get | Всё про онлайн-преподавание” with 45K followers. She runs her private club for online teachers. She organizes CPD events for teachers in online area and presents at webinars and international conferences.
